Our Mission

Our mission is simple. Search, Find, Recover - faster and safer.

R.S.A.R., a member of the Rockland Office of Fire & Emergency Services’ RCERT (Rockland Community Emergency Response Team) is a search and rescue organization that also readies all its volunteers for a variety of other emergency response situations. R.S.A.R. requires all its volunteers to undergo additional training and receive certification from the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program.  Training is given by professionals from the Rockland County Fire and Emergency Services to assist first responders in times of crisis. These crises can include, but are not limited to: evacuations, mass medical emergency, storms, fires, search missions, pre and post disaster outreach and education, post disaster assistance, assist at public emergency reception centers, neighbor well checks, supply management and distribution and damage assessments.

Rockland Search & Rescue volunteers assist people, families, and municipalities in searching for missing persons or loved ones, especially missing persons lost in the woods or at sea. In addition to search and rescue operations, R.S.A.R.'s members respond to a wide variety of crisis situations that range from reversing the damage from a flooded basement caused by burst pipes, to evacuations, mass medical emergency, storm / snow related emergencies, etc.
